The Sleep Deprivation Pandemic
Modern lighting drives us further apart from the natural light conditions.
The solution:
Blocking outdoor light with blinds and glasses.
Using circadian lighting indoors.
Is Modern Lighting Stealing Your Sleep?
Bright screens and artificial lights are disrupting your natural sleep patterns, leading to restless nights and groggy mornings.
Are you ready to reclaim your sleep and feel truly rested?
Get back in sync with nature.
The Circadian Rhythm
is your body’s natural 24-hour clock that regulates sleep and wake cycles. It influences essential functions like hormone production, metabolism, and cell repair.
Keeping it in sync is vital for effective sleep, stable energy levels, and overall health.
How Does It Work?
Light is the main signal that keeps your circadian rhythm in sync. Exposure to light tells your body it’s time to be awake, while darkness signals it to prepare for sleep. Specifically, blue light is the most potent in affecting this process. It powerfully suppresses melatonin, the hormone that makes you feel sleepy, thus having a strong impact on your sleep-wake cycle.
Why Blue Light Signals Day?
Blue light powerfully affects your circadian rhythm due to Rayleigh scattering. At noon, the sun appears white because its light takes a shorter path through the atmosphere, so blue light reaches us abundantly, signaling our bodies to stay awake. Near sunset, the sun looks orange because its light travels a longer path, filtering out more blue light. This natural reduction in blue light cues your body to prepare for sleep.
Artificial Light At Night
Exposure to blue light at night disrupts your sleep by suppressing melatonin, the hormone that signals your body to rest. Poor sleep quality interferes with essential cellular repair processes that occur during deep sleep, impacting your overall health and well-being.
Why Sleep Matters
Quality sleep is crucial for your body’s repair processes. During deep sleep, your cells regenerate, memories become long term, tissues heal, and your immune system strengthens.
No need to explain how much better your day is after a good nightt's sleep.
Are you ready to make a meaningful change?
Our products allow your body to prepare for sleep while keeping your lights on.
Embrace this opportunity to align your lifestyle with your natural rhythms. The benefits are worth it!
What you can do for free:
Keep screens off and out of reach 90 minutes before bedtime. This reduces blue light exposure and helps you avoid late-night scrolling.
Set a reminder 9 hours and 30 minutes before you want to wake up. This gives you 90 minutes to wind down and ensures you get 8 hours of sleep.
Step outside or open your curtains first thing in the morning. Natural light helps reset your circadian clock for the day.
Go to bed and wake up at the same times every day. Consistency anchors your circadian rhythm and improves sleep quality.
Skip coffee and other caffeinated drinks in the afternoon and evening. This prevents interference with your sleep cycle.
Ensure your sleeping environment is optimal for rest. Use blackout curtains or an eye mask, and keep the room at a comfortable, cool temperature.
Light That Respects Your Rhythm.
Thanks to discoveries in chronobiology, we now know that light is not just a visual medium but also the most powerful regulator of our circadian clock. We take pride in manufacturing products that help synchronize this immensely important internal clock.

FAQs
During a full moon, the typical lunar illuminance is around 0.05 to 0.1 lux, but under exceptional conditions like a supermoon, it can go up to 0.26 to 0.30 lux.
But even such a tiny input drives the monthly cycles of the whole natural world, like animal behavior, plant growth, human sleep and behavior.
For comparison your phone on minimum brightness still shines somewhere around 0.44 lux from about 20cm distance.
So your body likely experiences a supermoon on steroids every single day before you go to sleep.
In short, no.
Vitae bulbs are designed for local task lamps. You could however, use it in a ceiling lamp in very small bathrooms.
In a ~20 square metrer room you could use vitae in a ceiling lamp with 3-4 E27 sockets.
We believe in simplicity.
If app operated, vitae would no longer be night safe, since it would require phone use and thus possibly exposing you to blue light.
Benefits of the manual approach:
- Ease of use for any age group
- No WiFi - no stand by power usage
- Reliability
Although quite magical, Vitae won't save you from other light sources. The orange blue-free mode offers a way to keep lights on while not disrupting melatonin production.
For optimal results, use Vitae's first mode 90min before sleep and as the only light source.
